Apparently there has been some confusion regarding whether or not the recent QF shortlisters employed on contracts will get staff travel.

The word is no staff travel for those who are not permanent ongoing.

Whilst many were originally advised that they would be eligible the new information is that QF will not provide this benefit.

Most of the QF shortlisters will probably receive a call advising this.... Bummer.... :{

You should however be able to get greatly discounted and confimed seating through companies like Breakaway and Interline. I do most of my international travel through breakaway although a little higher in price then staff travel its confirmed seating and you can also get J Class unlike QF staff travel.

When I first joined the QF Group I was a contractor as well, and I was not entitled to staff travel. It would very much surprise me if any contractor (employed as an FA) was entitled to staff travel as I am not aware of it happening in the past.

If however, you get employed on a permanent basis then your service as a contractor counts for the purpose of service and staff travel.

QF staff travel is offered to permanent staff after 6months service.
No offence intended guys but I can't see the point of offering staff travel to someone on a 10month contract when by the time they are eligible for it their time with QF is nearing an end.

Would be great for you guys to have it from day 1 though !;)

One of our union reps told us that it has been brought up with the union for MAM casuals to be entitled to some sort of travel benefit with QF. Obviously they shouldn't be entitled to the same as full-timers and with a longer qualifying period, but it would be nice considering we're all doing the same job in the same uniform for the same airline. The only thing is that the name on the top of our payslips are different along with the pay. I know there will be some varying opinions on this, but this is mine. yes guys, i am aware that MAM casuals aren't actually employed by Qantas, by considering we're all providing the same service to QF and it's passengers....................Just thought i'd add it in. Honestly staff travel isn't a huge deal for me, i have it or i don't. I have the job i want
