Police are hunting for a man called Nigel after 23 Slough housewives report a spate of thefts of knickers from washing lines.

The Flight Engineer on one of these airshow trips (when they were allowed) was telling me that on the way there, the Training Captain did a full waggle and control reversal of the controls to practice the manoeuvre. After enormous gyrations of the sky, they checked and they'd lost 50 feet altitude. So at the airshow, they're steaming up the runway at 50 feet with Flight Engineer thinking 'what an impressive sight we must be' and then he said '***** me! He went and did it again at 50 feet!' A serious loss of sense of humour occured!
We didn't do many airshows like this before display flying was banned for non specifically trained display pilots. Too many people overdo it in the excitement.

Too bad, I did not find this pic on the data base but let me suggest of an Air Zimbabwe 707-330B as the cake taker by performing a very low flypast over HRE during an airshow. Probably even lower than the Varig Log 727-200(F). For those who kept their collection of "Airways", finding this picture should not be an impossible mission.

Pity I didn't take a camera to work with me.... Occasionally aircraft will do a fly-past if they have a gear problem so that ATC and engineers can take a look-see before risking a landing. One day, very many years ago, at Heathrow a DC-9 operated by a well-respected European airline made such a fly past on 27L. At the threshold he broke right towards the tower..... right across T2... but so low we looked down on him from the tower and couldn't see the gear!! Some people outside T2 threw themselves to the ground in sheer terror! Ah.. magic days..
