read in a norwegian newspaper that a SAS Dash-8 had indications of smoke and fire in one of the engines. Shut it down and landed in Hamburg with no injuries or further damage...

Any more info out there?

The article also said that the passengers were evacuated using the slides....I thougt the 8 was a bit low for that...but I am probably wrong...

Don't have any info on this particular situation but I can tell you that the Dash-8 doesn't have slides.

Actually doesn't look like a long way down to terra firma, but when stood in the back door, you suddenly realise that although it's not high enough to legally require slides, it would be quite nice to have one! Any old grannies having to jump out the back in an evacuation would probably break their legs or worse. Still, the last person off would be ok - they could just walk down the pile of bodies who've knackered their legs/backs and can't move!
