Hello Boys and Girls -
Haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere so thought I would mention it here. not sure if the same applies to EAA and Sunnies people.

The first group of Impulse/Jetstar will transfer to SH on 22 June. Offered PER base with a one year freeze on transfers.

I assume our CP document is the same as other divisions. You keep your start date with the QF Group for seniority purposes but lose it for staff travel :( . I think we start on year one salary? Not sure.

Also is PER soon to be just 737 and 330 Regional Flying? And the LH base closes? That was my take on the situation.

Hi ditz!

You're correct re: CP and start dates. You retain your start date for seniority and everything else EXCEPT for staff travel. Your benefits carry over, but your onload date changes to the date you join Short Haul.

The EAA and Sunnies kids, as I understand, were mostly offered SYD and MEL bases. However, I believe this mostly had to do with EAA and Sunnies kids being on the list far longer than ours. Could be (and probably am - I can accept it!) wrong...willing to find out any other info from someone who knows better!

QF has maintained time and time again that PER LH base will remain as is. Most of the PER SH flying is within WA itself, with a few interstate trips - varies from bid package to bid package. Maybe with Regional Flying, that could change in the future...QF are steadfastly denying otherwise right now...nothing new there though!

I believe the freeze on transfers may have applied previously, if not has just started, on all those going from subsidiaries to QF mainline - irrespective of which base you are assigned OR which airline you've come from. Again, could be wrong - just from what others have told me who are also in training on 22 June.

Hi Ditzyboy,

My assumption is that PER SH flying will be 737's only. Not A330's. My understanding is based on an email the shortlisters with AO rec'd stating that the reason we can't start flying yet is because the next 767 from QF has been delayed until QF convert 7 A330's from SH cabins to LH cabins for LH operations.

So I think it will only be the one a/c type for PER in the future.

It's a sad time for me at qflink as I lose two of my best mates to qf short haul due to this progression (even though I myself will depart 2 weeks after them ! .) From what I understand they have chosen SYD s/h - they are both beautiful girls (1 of them is my best friend in the whole wide world ! ) as well as fantastic flight attendants so I'm sure QF will be more than impressed with them once they start. I believe the other three have chosen SYD s/h also and yes they are all great people - I hope our SYD s/h colleagues ( galleyhag !! ) welcome them with open arms !

I believe there may be some understandably upset PER s/h crew at present (previous c.p ground school EAA/Sunstate) as these crew were never offered a choice of base, yet these new c.p f/a's have been offered a choice of base but were not on the CP list as long as the PER s/h cp recruits. Although who can say no to perm F/T work with QF these days !

Ditz you must be close to the top of the list by now ?

She may be senior - but SHE'S NOT THAT SENIOR! :p

Besides - if she went to Short Haul, she might, like, have to do some work!

I will welcome all the new regional crew with open arms, I am the biggest fan of regional progression and think there should be more of it. Regional crew have a great work ethic and are respected at short haul. I wish them all the best of luck.

I heard the EAA crew had a choice of Sydey, Melbourne or Perth base so QF must have waited for the Eastern and Sunstate girls and boys to make up their minds before offering bases to Jetstar crew.

Hopefully Perth base will get the odd overnight in the future.

Yes, regional crew are highly respected in mainline for having a strong work ethic, good initiative and down to earth also. All positive, bring more over from regional.

We have o/nights in the bid pack for July for the first time. Don't know where yet, waiting for the bid pack to come out but PER S/H is a great base with very friendly crew. Previously have been doing all day trips intra WA and to DRW, DPS and CGK on the 737-300/400/800, although we are also endorsed on the B767 and A330 which reservists will get called out on o/nights to cover East Coast sick leave and schedule disruptions.

My gut feeling is that PER will be the first base to see SH and LH combine as one operation as being a small base it seems to be the guinea pig for trying new ideas. However, having said that, who really knows. Pull out the crystal ball

I am a big fan of the CP agreement as it left some room for me to finally start flying again with EAA (ground school in a little under two weeks). Just wondering if any of you kids could shed some light on how long it has taken for this group to transfer across to s/h? or the average length of service of crews making the transition to mainline??

Average wait at Eastern was between 4 and 5 years. The most senior crew member who will transfer in the June school has 5 years flying seniority. The August school will have some luckier ones who have less than 4 years seniority. So if things continue the way they have turned out, future F/As will transfer much sooner.
