S video to coax adapter?

Does anyone know whether its possible to obtain an adapter to allow the S video output from the lap top to be converted to a 'normal' 75 Ohm TV coax plug?

It all depends on your graphics card (chip..in the case of a laptop)

If the S-video is a 4 pin then it is unlikely. If it is 7 pin then it is more likely but where you get it from is a bit harder.

Its a four pin....

Found them with a scart adapter but the tv doesn't have a scart socket.

Problem if you only have the 75 Ohm input on the TV, is that you have to 're-modulate' the output signal from your laptop.

So you need something like this ;

RF Modulator (http://www.beststuff.co.uk/slx_rf_modulator.htm)

- coupled with an S-Video lead which will split out the video and audio from your laptop to phono connectors for the inputs to the above box.

I'm not expert but just my tuppence worth.

Someone will no doubt shoot me down in flames !!

Another thought would be to go for the S-Video to SCART adapter you have already found.

Connect that to a video or digibox with a SCART input and coax output, the video/digibox may do the RF modulation for you without the need for a seperate modulator.

Not sure if that would work - hence the emphasis on SCART input.

S-Video and scart are for wired signals, the aerial socket is for RF. At the other end, inside the TV is an RF demodulator, so you have to get an RF modulator to turn the S video signal into an RF signal. You can get one for about 20-30 pounds, see here (http://www.satcure.co.uk/accs/page4.htm) for an example. You´ll still need to get an s-video to scart adaptor though.

It is not that hard. The boxes that do the converting are very simple and straight forward. Also they are great for hooking up not only your computer but also your VCD, DVD, Camcorder, etc. to your TV.
