This aircraft broadcasted a mayday with a partial engine failure at about 4pm CST and was returning to utpoia (about 140mn NE Alice Springs).

ELT was subsequently heard.

The pilot of a Cessna 210 that crashed north-east of Alice Springs is recovering in hospital this morning.

Northern Territory police received a call late yesterday afternoon and a civilian helicopter located the plane 66 nautical miles from Alice Springs soon after.

It is believed the mail plane had left Alcoota Station a short time earlier.

The pilot received only minor injuries and was the only person on board.

Yes, there is good news.

Pilot a bit second-hand and sore, but otherwise is doing fine and wants to get out of hospital asap.

No pax were aboard.
