After Napster was taken down I used Kazaa but the spyware became too much of a burden. Now I'm using WinMX but it can VERY slow to get what I want, queueing system can take days.

What is the best P2P out there?

Thanks

How about Ares from Softgap (http://www.aresgalaxy.org/index.html)
You can also read up about it at Download.com (http://download.com.com/3120-20-0.html?qt=ares+galaxy&tg=dl-2001)

It seems like a good programme and I haven't heard of anyone getting a virus or a fake track yet:ok:

Definately Bittorrent ... which is now becoming more mainstream and used for lots of legal downloads (currently downloading a 4GB bittorrent file from Project Gutenberg).

MuppetPax,

Blizzard recently started using Bittorrent for distribution of World of WarCraft Beta. It works well and saves Blizzard a lot of bandwidth. (I was able to download the 2Gb Beta in just under two hours using Bittorrent.)

Take Care,

Richard

But Bittorrent isn't really P2P is it?

It just snatches bits form all over and so avoids hammering the single solitary server.
You cannot set it up for P2P sharing AFAIK

BDiONU Kazaa lite is better then Kazaa, and doesnt have the spyware in it. I am not sure if its still free though I was trying to download it for my brother and couldnt find a free copy. I think Win MX is the best for music. Very rarely do you get something wrongly labelled as you seem to get with every second download with Kazaa. You can also carry out multiple simultaneous searches with Win MX you cant do that with Kazaa.

BitTorrent isn't really a P2P program like the others, but there are several websites that you can use to search for files. From there you can download the files at speeds generally better than what you get off of something like Kazaa.

Kazaa has been busy running around shutting down any other programs that use it's network, including Kazaa Lite. You can probably still find a copy somewhere, but eventually they will change something that will prevent it working anymore.

For kazaa lite and many other freeware here is a site offering free downloads. Kazaa lite is working fine for me and I haven't had anything pop up after scanning with adaware and suchlike.
