Hi all

What kind of outlay initially and monthly could one expect to make on a 747-400 wet lease.

Where would you wet lease a 747-400 from in Africa. Are there lots of them, crews and engineers just lying around or do you have to look to Europe to get one.

Happy flying

Pete

Off the top of my head the only airline ops B747-400s is SAA. Dont think they have a spare one for you right now.

There is a B747-200 at Rand Airport you might like to try!!!!

As to the crews - hell there are lots of them lying around (! hehehe)

No spare B747-400 in Africa, but plenty standing in Arizona still in the original wrapping, never been used!

So would £100k get me an aircraft and crew for a month or so?

Thanks alexmcfire but there were no B747's for wet lease.

Try to contact Air Atlanta in Iceland. They have a bunch of 747's available. Same time you will get an answer what you can get with your money.

Thanks guys for the posts.

I don't actually want to lease a B747.. I have no desire to be an Aviation Tycoon. Hence I was just wanting a thumbsuck figure but I may if I am bored phone leasing company.

Thanks again

So all these replies trying to help you out were only because you were bored??? You never had the intention of going near/leasing a B747-400. If you're so bored, why dont you go surf some porn or something?

126,7, Spot on.

You will find most likely that Pete and his Pistol have already shot up on all porn sites and is like HEY, lets see what a 747 to lease costs out of sheer bordom.

Its great to see all the support that one can get. However, lets think before we post and not waste someones time, energy and most of all...pi:mad: ss them off.

Cheers All.

LOL You are right about the porn. I had some PM's about costs. I am just doing some research for someone. If they require more I will make some phonecalls. I am very sorry to imply that I might be bored enough :p.

I do appreciate the answers and whilst you are willing to help me with my idle curiosities can anyone explain the recoil dissapation system that the M134 Minigun uses? :D.

I state now for 126.7's benefit that I have no intention of going near/leasing a M134 Minigun or mounting one on a B744 :ok:

ref acmi operation
for a wet lease acmi expect to pay block hour around 3800-5000 usd for a 200 and between 5500-7000 usd for a 400.. availability on pax 400 for one month severly limited. main issues are co insurance which can be expensive depending on your destinations
and registery as all leases nowadays for a period longer than 5 days require filing with the aviation authorties of the countries involved..
best package is also to ask the airline to include in the BHR all positioning depositioning hotac and off air airport transport costs
this will save a lot of hassle on sorting out crew costs later
good luck..

Thanks acmi48

That was a very informative cost breakdown. Civair are going to have to pre-sell a  of tickets if they are going to get 1 let alone 2 long haul jets.

Thanks again

Pete

PS... can anyne still tell me how the recoil dissapation works on an M134 Minigun? :)
