It's a shocking idea, but one Winston would have come up with himself.

He personally insisted that huge numbers of dummy invasion barges and vehicles were stationed in the South East to convince Germany that D-Day was to be on the Eastern French/Belgian/Dutch coast.

They even went as far as replicating the signals traffic of several Army divisions to convince the German ESM teams.

Yes, good point! It might look the same but a little phut-phut glow fuel motor won't cut the mustard. I hope someone takes up the challenge and we hear a Merlin overhead.

I heard a long while ago that the owners of the Lanc in Canada wanted to bring it over here and the CAA refused permission. Anyone know if this is true?
