The First evening display of the year at Old Warden was yet another superb display, despite the best efforts of some soggy ground. We saw the reappearance of an old friend in new clothes and a new formation duo.
A big thanks once again to all involved, roll on the D-Day show.

Nice pictures MOTF but what have they done to the Tutor, it does not suit the aircraft at all.
It should be Yellow, it looks so good in Yellow, as far as I can remember it has always been Yellow even when I was going to Old Warden back in the 60s, why change it.
No doubt it is an original scheme but to me the red and white stripes do not suit it :ugh:

I wasn't sure that I'd like the Tutor at all after seeing glimpses of the wings under covers during my last few visits to Old Warden and having got used to the yellow scheme over all these years.
However, when I saw the Tutor yesterday was taken aback at how good it looks. The Old Warden crew have done a splendid job.
I've not had chance to sift through my photos from yesterday yet, but here are three of Denny to be getting on with.

Apologies for the duff link above, I cant fix it because the forum software will only allow me to post a fixed number of images per post, however if I post immediately afterwards it will combine the posts so that when I try and fix it it tells me I have to many images per post, infuriating aint it
Anyway heres the link

'twas a superb display, especially the Sopwith Triplane flown by Andy Sephton:ok: Nice to see the Miles Gemini/Speed six pair flying as well.
Shame though that the sun didnt stay out for the whole display
As for the Avro Tutor, I think it looks superb!

It was another good Shuttleworth day. The standard of the models in the Aeromodelling was very good. Must get one of those large scale Moths.
The real flying was great when it happened but people without scanners were left in the dark a bit too long an a number of occasions.
Nice to chat with Gyp and say hello to Papa Lima (hope you enjoyed it).
The new Cafe/Shop is very impressive and will really improve the customer experience for the families of the aviation enthusiasts. I had time during the day to have a really good browse of the museum (Mrs DeepC was stuck at work). It's amazing how every time you look around you find some other little object, board or even plane that you hadn't seen (or realised the significance of). I'd just finished reading Alex Henshaw's 'flight of the mew gull' and so being able to have a good look at the Gypsy Major engines up close was interesting. (On that subject, what is the story behind G-AEXF and Shuttleworth and why did it go?)

DeepC:
G-AEXF, this was covered in Aerbedane's request for feedback on Shuttleworth that was started last Autumn. Don't know how to link to that thread, but I'm sure if you go back far enough in AH&N then you'll find it.
From my recall, Shuttleworth couldn't afford the price for both 'XF and the Active, so they've gone to a good home in Breighton.
Hope this helps
Cheers H

A big thanks to the regular contributors of the excellent phots on this thread. I am a long way from UK and appreciate both the feel of the shows as well as the sights. Very nostalgic.
Keep them coming!
