How to become an A&P engineer...

I was wondering how many possibilities there are to become an A&P Engineer?

I'm just aware of two:
(1) You could apply as an apprentice
(2) or you could attend a JAR-66 course

Or does an apprentice also take JAR-66 ???
I'm a little confused ... :\

First of all why do you want an FAA A&P ? It would be more benifical to get a JAR 66 Licence (A&P to work on N reg aircraft) seeing as you live and presumably work in Europe.

The ideal start would be to get an apprenticeship with an Airline but like Cadet Pilot courses these have dried up recently. Your next step would be to go to an aeronautical college/school and study for your JAR licences. These would normally take about three years including your practical lessons.
