hi,

I've been trying to find information on the sri lankan airlines cadet pilot programme.checked the company website but it only has a few sentences about it. if there is anyone who has already been through the selection process I would very much appriciate some information from you. In particular about the written test, interview and sim test.

Thankyou to everyone who can provide me with some answers!!

Do you really want to live in Colombo>? I suggest you do alittle research and find out if this is the kind of place you want to live in.

No bad experience, just that I personally wouldn't want to live in a country that has rebels going around destroying things and killing people. And if you are a foreigner, you will stick out as a target. I don't think they will be paying you enough to go through that kind of danger. But if thats what you want than thats cool, just hope you know what it is you are getting yourself into. And I am not sure but to be part of any cadet programme of almost any airline you have to be a resident. Since you won't be able to get citizenship, you may have to already have your licenses to apply. They will probably give you an apartment in a compound, and with those kinds of companies, I doubt there is a union so they can tell you anytime you're fired and you're out the door. If you can't find employment in your country then move elsewhere only as a last resort because you will not enjoy the freedom you do in New Zealand. Good luck!

Well Mr.MD11Flyer, as a matter of fact i do have Sri Lankan citizenship which is why i want to apply for the cadet pilot programme. I assumed that bit was obivous to anyone with half a brain.
Having lived there for many years before moving to NZ and recently visiting sri lanka last year, and seeing what its really like there, i do believe you are talking out of your back side MD11Flyer.
From your posting what is evident to me is that you've obviousely never been there and you seem to have mistaken people's opinions for facts. Really quite surprised to findout that some people can be this ignorant. Especially in the field of aviation.

to quote a certain Mr.MD11Flyer:
"I suggest you do a little research"

Well you did not mention you had a citizenship and with an attitude like that all you'll get to fly is rubber dog **** to some rat hole. Sri Lankan lost several planes in a rebel attack on the airport, and I don't think thats the kind of flying many of us would like to do. And judging by your hostile attitude, I really hope I don't go visit there.

MD11 Flyer ( as if  ),

Give it up. U have well and truly been cought with your trousers down as U obviously have no idea about Sri Lanka. Its a very safe and peacful place to live in for westerners provided a little caution is taken particularly in the northern regions. Outside the northern region it is extremely safe for westerners even, so give it - U have well and truly been caught out that you know nothing about what you are talking about.

I know what I read and its not a place I would choose for vacation nevermind work. I know several people from Colombo who have come to Canada as refugees from Sri Lanka and they tell me otherwise. You are right I don't know much nor do I care much about Sri Lanka. Just wanted to tell h1tman47 he needs to be a citizen of Sri Lanka to join the cadet programme.
