Went to the local pub/carvery yesterday (no surprise there then:rolleyes: ) and the gents toilets were out of order. On the door was a sign:-

"Out of order. Please use the restaurant".

Surely this might upset the diners?

I was in a traditional 'Olde Worlde' pub recently (again, no surprises).

On walking through to the toilets I ducked for the 'Mind your Head' sign (dispite being a good 6 inches lower than the beam).
Whilst avoiding the non-existent hazard, I missed the next sign which said 'Mind the Step' & went flat onto my nose.

Fortunately no drink in hand, so only marginal embarrestment & annoyance caused:=

Cheers,
Cheesy.

Years ago, on taking my son to a small one-man barber shop for a trim, I saw a crudely hand-lettered sign that read:

NO FLAT TOP'S

It has bugged me ever since.

Why not?

Or does it mean something else altogether?

I thoroughly enjoyed shopping at a store in Rotterdam several years ago called "Dump 2000"

I think the shop assistant thought I was some sort of giggling mental patient. :E

Sitting in a VERY slow moving traffic queue coming
from Northampton Saints rugby ground, on my way
back to Leicestershire, we crawled past a sign
outside a new housing development that read:

"If you lived here, you'd be home by now."

Apt, and just a bit amusing! :D

I was on a train to Stockport once (but only the once), and I think it was just as we were leaving Macclesfield that we saw a large building with a huge sign on the front.

At Land's End there is the tourist trap Signpost that everyone is aware of. A little further back along the path is another signpost, which says 'To The Signpost'.:p

Beaver hardware is just down the road from me. It never struck me before.

There's a local gardener who advertises "Don't kill yourself doing your garden. Let me do it for you."

And one of our former Curates had some visiting cards printed that said:

"The Revd XXX called today, and was sorry to find you out."

The saddest part was that he never realised...

Slow-Rider and under_exposed, I kid you not, but in a resort town about 45 minutes from here there is a retail establishment purveying alcoholic beverages which goes by the name "Beaver Liquor".

I can't criticise them because they stock our wines...
