Any idea what type of Plane it was? PA-28? A warrior would hardly be used for parachuting.

Either way...... tough luck on him especially after being lucky to get a flying position in the Air Corps. God rest him.

Spoke to the Irish Air Corps pilots fairly regularly during my time at Belfast City, very professional guys with a fairly cheery demeanour on the R/T.
My condolences to his family and colleagues in the Air Corps.

It was a C172. I believe it only had the left seat to facilitate para jumping.
