Need help guys.

This box at work (yes ppruning at work, sssshhhh) is running Win2K - PENT 3-1.0 Gb with 256 Mb ram.

Win is at SP4 and the MS update site tells me I need to install 2 critical updates, KB828741 and KB835732.

Doesn't matter how I try, the installation fails. I have tried installing them one at a time, and together but no joy.

Any clues?

2 thoughts from similar experience - wait a day, go back to the update site and try again. Have had " fail to load " as you describe but worked at second bite.
As this is a work machine, are there any access violation issues that your admin might need to address ?

Thanks for your thoughts.

I've tried to load these updates for a week or more with no success. The box recently accepted SP4 OK, and today I even tried the suggestions offered by MS but no luck.

I've got admin rights on the box so there's no problems there. Our LAN has around 40 boxes and is a mix of W2K and XP.

Oh! the perversity of inanimate objects!

I'm willing to try anything, and I'll keep trying.

My pal, my friend, my buddy! It worked just fine.

So simple. Funny how some of us seem to get brainwashed into thinking the computer auto functions are the only way.

Many thanks.
