Eh up!
Need to know how many of you work for airlines that supply you all with Hi- Viz jackets for walking around the ramp area, Disembarking Pax etc...

Our Company puts 3 Jackets on board which is fine until the entire Crew has to A/C change, walk to Transport etc. Our Crew think all Cabin Crew should have one. Please let me know what happens where you are.
Cheers.

I must admit I was a bit surprised to find that BA don't issue HiVis to their cabin crew
At base we either travel by bus or walk to the gate via the terminal
It doesn't seem to be a problem downroute anywhere as we are usually on an airbridge or are escorted by security across the ramp the same way as the pax

Hi - although they really clash with my hair colour I have quite a selection of Hi Vis at home kindly donated by BIMIBABY, bmi Regional, Islandsflug, American Airlines and a private operator.
As we have to wear them on the ramp I think operaters should give one each to all crew members....
Its cheaper than paying a fine or large sums out in insurance should an accident happen!

At Brisbane airport all staff that go on the tarmac must wear a high visibility jacket/vest failing to comply will result in an on the spot fine of I think about $AUD500.00 Qantas issue high visibility vests or shirts etc for nearly all Brisbane staff that go on tarmac high vis equipment...well nearly all. They're a good idea and in future we may also be issued with Ice High Vis vests for hot spells.

Slightly off track here, but it is now a legal requirement in the Spanish territories, to carry a HiViz at all times in ones car.

It should be worn at any, time day or night, if one has to exit the car by the roadside for any reason.

my airline issues one to all crew. my previous airline used to have 3 on board as yours does and more often than not they were filthy, covered in oil, which always looked attractive once it got on your white shirt.

My company issue hi-viz jackets to all crew . and we have to wear them from leaving the crew room to boarding the a/c .
Have been told its a BAA requirement and a fine is imposed to those not doing so .
I am therefore a little confused, as TUI and Virgin crews never wear them ? .. at LGW. Can someone please enlighten me
many thanks

Well we don't wear them in the terminal, they are to be worn at all times when on the apron/tarmac, this includes boarding pax at the bottom of steps. (as a company standard we also have to have a ID's on and ear defenders!) MYT are tough cookies!

hi,
your airline sound tight! if you are accompanied with someone who is wearing a hi viz then that is sufficient legally, but they do sound really tight as they dont cost that much

Britannia issue crew with Hi Vis jackets to be worn when on the ramp. We are supposed to be getting ear defenders too at some stage but heaven knows when. It's about time we did.

Have to admit, my company (MYT) is vert strickt as to when to wear it, you don't wear it in the terminal as one of my colleagues said before, but you don't go out on the ramp or anywhere near the a/c without one! also with your ID on show and you ear defenders... dont really see many other airline crews wearing them downroute, but its silly not to, if its provided... wear it! when you get hit by ground service trucks who you gonna complain to when the airilne provided ya hi viz and you didnt wear it?

I am sure that in Europe now it is a legal requirment that if you are required to wear safety equipment as part of your job your employer must supply it.

So a Hi Viz would count as an item that has to be supplied.

We have to wear them at Virgin Blue. Its quite new it was introduced as a must have item about 4 weeks ago. It is being inforced here in BNE, if you forget it you need to walk through the terminal not airside. I believe it is BACL that fines people and APS fines those who don't have their ASIC pass visable.
