was just wondering how these work eg with regard to tip vortices compared to the more conventional winglet types like on the 744, couldnt seem to find any thing about them in my notes

thought that the 767-400 tips had more to do with marketing........ Boeing had to quickly come up with something new to counter the lead that Airbus 330 had with sales.......not many 767-400s sold however.........they tried to sell it as a 777 smaller brother .

If winglets are, effectively, methods of increasing lift (by reducing drag as a result of reducing vortices), do raked wing tips perform the same function (increasing lift) by increasing the wing area?

They apparently work so well that they are to be fitted to the 777-300ER and the 777-200LR!
