As of August 2004, GF will be hiring non type rated A320 First Officers. There are no other details as of yet.
I will post them as soon as we know more.

Good Luck for those looking for a job.

Yeah, I heard the same thing, but don't kid yourselef it is only

for local country men not for x-pats. GF have alot of local FA

with their wings, as well engineers with type ratings from

maintenance on A.320,A.340/330,and B.767 which they have

good understanding of systems and current in flying as

well. It would be nice to see x-pats in their as well but that's

going to be difficult.

They have a right to a job too !!
It is their country after all !! Isn't it ???
But seriously, we don't know that yet !!
Be positive for a change..

In response to Sabastienl's post - the last thing Gulf Air needs is a flood of inexperienced pilots in the RHS.

Attrition and training pressures would suggest it prudent to maintain experience levels in the RHS. This would cost management money as the pool of experience drying up.

Edited previous posts as some how misconstrewed as having racial undertones.

Nothing farther from the truth.

Either my poor english expression or a convenient deflection of the issues by others.

Who said anything about inexperienced pilots in the RHS Bagshaw. I think the topic here is non type rated pilots. There is a huge difference you know between non type rated and inexperienced pilots.

The non type rated applications will be accepted from any nationality who meets the requirements for your information.

Bagshaw it's evident how rasist you are and I fail to see why in this case you remain in GF. I guess it's just because you're a blatant hypocrit of the worst kind.

Bagshaw, your comments are offensive and your thinking is as vintage as a bagshaw crusher. Some of the LHS locals would fly rings around some LHS from your past.
No more to say on this aspect of your post.

Hey Bagshaw,

You shot your arguement in the foot when you said you don't work for GF anymore. Nothing worse than a pilot with an axe to grind. You did not fit in maybe, so get over it and let the rest of the guys do the job you could not. :ok:

To all non rated pilots out there, Gulf Air finally opened up the hiring to you guys/gals.
Check out the www.gulfairco.com, go to careers and there it is.
Go ahead and apply.

Good Luck.

Any ideas of how many First Officers they are looking for? Finally somebody is offering a chance to A320-without asking money for it.

No idea of how many, but all you have to do is to apply.
And the best thing is It is free
This is a very good opportunity for those with no type rating.
And suprisingly enough, it is from a carrier that is getting bashed very often....
you don't get that kind of chance very often, so go for it...

GF, in the past (circa. 1989), has hired non type rated F/Os (nominally S/Os ‘till completion of training). Nearly all of these pilots, with the exception of a couple of “colourful characters” (bless them), progressed through the system to gain command.

BC, please don’t take this personally, but none of the aforesaid pilots could have been described as short on experience, only short on heavy/medium jet and airline time.

So depending on the conditions of contract then this may be a good opportunity for some. However read the contract carefully, in the hope it will be honoured, and remember that famous line: “a verbal agreement isn’t worth the paper it’s written on”. Also as far as promotion goes then past performance is not necessarily a guide to future performance (I’ve also heard that line before).

Bahrain a pleasant enough place to live and GF people easy to work with once YOU adjust. Good luck.

This is good news. GF's induction course for new hires is almost a type conversion anyway. just a couple of extra sims and a bit more ground school and it should cover everything if the pilot was already high on turbo time. New commands are going through as fast as the training dept can cope. we also have a lot of short term contract captains who will be let go as soon as we can fill from below. all in all gf is on the up. its my view that if it continues time to command could shorten considerably. What we need is less of the bagshaws of the world here and more happy people.

Just want it to know, if I could apply via fax, I believe their on line application system is down, I am having trouble attaching and submiting my cv. I called and wrote their support web-syst but as of today no reply, I also look for a number in the GA web to call BAH and to obtain further info. such Chief Pilot's name in order to write a cover letter directly to him...and so on... any suggestions? thank you!

Cheers,

Well MSA, as I said in the other topic, seems that your source of information is outdated or not well intended I'd say.
YES, YOU WILL GET YOUR HOUSING ALLOWANCE AND YOUR UTILITIES ALLOWANCE. PROBABLY THE AMMOUNT WILL BE ENOUGH FOR A MODEST 2 B/R FLAT. IF YOU WANT A REALLY GOOD PLACE, YOU'LL PAY ABOUT USD 300 MORE FROM YOUR POCKET.
Otherwise, really nice enviroment, nice people to work with, both locals and expats. You'll certainly enjoy your time.

Best Regards and Good Luck
