sickle cell trait

Hi there,

Is there any pilots out who have sickle cell trait? Have you come across any obstacles on your way to becoming a pilot?

Is there anybody who has been turned down because of having the trait?

Does it cause any problems in flying at all, as some people would like me to believe?

I would be grateful to hear anything on the subject at all

Hi DP,

Not a haematologist but I am not sure why you think that if you have sicklecell trait you should have a problem.

Of course if you would have full blown sickle cell anaemia that would be a different matter altogether.
