Well, marvelous technological break through that it was, it is just not working out.. .It has been and will be continually besieged by (mostly economic) illegal immigrants.. .The security forces cannot stop them, the French government will not.. .Little freight is consequently getting any through put.. .Who needs it? Enough is enough.. .Fill the bloody thing in.. .Improve the island's security.. .Re-route all the freight and pax back to ferries and better yet some. .of it onto aircraft. Might help with overall recovery of commercial aviation in Europe and the UK.

Drapes,. .. .Watch out. They may extend the Metro link all the way to Frightening Folkestone. Bad enough Macums infiltrating the toon but can you imagine what it would be like if all them southerners got in. White stillettos in the Big Market. . .. .Even worse, could be some Frenchies invading. Could end up with Wor Geordies Cafe selling croissant with pease pudding.

Is it possible to flood the entire tunnel with CO2? Not only would Le Train Flambé be a thing of the past, but so too would the rats, of both two and four-legged variety.

Rollingthunder. .. .For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Closing the Chunnel might help with the recovery of commercial aviation (thought it was happening anyway?), but would put my brother (Eurostar driver) out of a job.. .. .Gather current SOP for Eurostar at Calais is to slow to 80kph from 160kph to avoid soiling the trains with detachable bits of illegal immigrants. Or in the words of Younger Evening Star, "It is just as well they slow us or last night I would have got six of the ******s".. .. .Big Tudor. .. .Already enough white stilettos in the Bigg Market. However, the rest of the carnal display usually distracts from observing shoes (unless one is into that sort of thing....).

The cost of the Channel Tunnel was about £10 Billion. The cost of bringing the Great British sewerage system up to scratch is also about £10 billion. The obvious solution would be to connect one to the other-or so a writer to The Times suggested.Of course,I couldn't possibly comment.

ECAM. .. .Quote:. .--------------------------. .Wogawoga. .--------------------------. .. .And that is what? There is a town called Wagga Wagga but it's nowhere near any vinyard I know of, and I know of a few (free sampling you understand ).. .. .If you want to try some good Aussie wine try something from the Coonawarra area.

Feety, ECAMS must have been referring to a cheap Kangarouge.

From BBC News:. .. ."Later today there will a ceremonial opening of the first dry-land link between England and france. The President of france, a notable foreigner, will cut the tape, thereby opening the escalator which links the English Channel Tunnel to the french Channel Bridge."

I personally think the ferry is far more civilized, particularly the over night crossing/booze cruise variety. I can't understand why we need a 'land' link to a 3rd world country any way.. .MS..N2, more effective and enviromentaly friendly.
