Jetstar International?????

COULD SOMEONE GIVE ME AN INSIGHT INTO WHAT THE DISCUSSION IS IN RELATION TO JETSTAR DOING SOME INTERNATIONAL ROUTES? Does it have something to do with the new Low cost Asian carrier? Does that mean that some Jetstar crew will be doing international routes? Obviously nothing too much concrete has been said but does anyone have any information? :D

Jetstar International is the Singapore Based carrier that QF will be opening up with Singapore based businessmen and investment co.s It is a separate airline to Jetstar.

Jetstar in Australia is not planned to operate any international sectors at this stage, however the possibility is there .... in the years to come they will probably do some flying to NZ.

Jetstar only services the Eastern States, one would think they would increase their domestic destinations (eg ADL,DRW,BME,PER etc) before they considered going international.

Hold on....Although Qantas is putting in 49% of funds to operate this regional airline in Asia it is not going to be a "Qantas or JetStar" run company, it is merely an investment held by Qantas. There is a Malaysian airline operating at the moment called "Air Asia". They are based out of Kuala Lumpur and currently fly from Malaysia to Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. Air Asia is run by the philosophy of Virgin Blue, running low cost fares regionally withing Asia. Most regional flights within Asia are between 1-5 hours. This airline is doing very well. Now Singapore Airlines had a plan to operate a similar low cost airline in competition to Air Asia and now with the backing of QF and other companies it is going ahead. It will not take over any Qantas or Australian Airlines routes, nor be involved with Jet Star. I think the media hyped it up well when they heard Qantas was involved with this and they dubbed it "Jet Star Asia". It's something more like "Tiger" or similar, I cant remember. It's just an investment and nothing to do with the Qantas mainline operations.

QF may only hold 49 % of the new airline, but they are expected to be heavily involved in the running of the airline.

The QF backed airline hasnt been named yet (or atleast it hasnt been released yet) although it has been rumoured to be Jetstar Asia ( Not just because QF is involved )
