I've already vented in the Canada forum, but it's not enough it seems - still seething.. .klMUK, buzz, basiq, tui, mytravel, tango, anything with 'jet' in it, and now jazz !. .OK, what I want to know is who started all this ?. .. .Your nominations please for the original Silly Airline Name.

I must have taken something . . . for a moment I thought I was in Rumours and News and I read the inital post and thought 'How did this survive in R&N for more than 5 minutes?'!!! Then I saw the 'The watch on your wrist' and 'Music Quiz' thread and knew it was OK.. . . .. .My vote goes to MyTravel and possibly JetBlue. I'm sure there are plenty of others, I just can't think of them.. .. .SFly

Suckling Airlines always draws a smile from me!

28th Mar 2002, 08:52
Suckling was the founders' name, so it can't really be called silly without insulting the gentleman himself.. .No, I'm after the first one who when presented with an assinine suggestion said 'Oooh yes, that's what I want to call my airline !'. Tempting to award it to easyJet (which isn't one of the worst) or Jet America, both of which break my 'jet' rule. Wasn't there any silliness prior to that though ? Seems like it's been going on much longer.. . . . [ 28 March 2002, 04:54: Message edited by: PaperTiger ]

I've seen a great pic of a Virgin aeroplane and parked next to it is an aeroplane with the same style livery but in blue. The blue airline's name? Slut. Made Oi larf it did. . .I'm sure Slut Air would be a success on the Club 18-30 Med runs

The wonderful 'Skypower Express' from West Africa...Touch & Go Airlines from Kjjiglywiglystan, I did see one called 'ARSE' once in South America, Aerolineas something something something!

LowNSlow,. .. .Unfortunately Slut Airlines does not really exist! The piccy was 'composed' after the Sabena failure when Virgin & DAT were talking of merging. Virgin - Slut, geddit??

Boss Raptor,. .. .Think you're referring to the organisation for which Aerolineas Argentinas was an operating unit, known as Aerolineas Argentinas Sociedad del Estado and which was officially know, as you say, as ARSE

Yeh but PP "Love Air" doesnt sound silly. Just whenever I read or hear the name "Suckling Airways" I cant help but imagine a pax gettin a boob in his face from the stewardess instead of coffee! . .. .PS not meant to insult. Just sounds funny!

The old synapses may have slowed, but they still get there in the end.. .. .Busy Bee is the first airline name I recall guffawing at, some 20 years ago. Since they were (are ?) Norwegian maybe it lost something in the translation. Bit like GM trying to figure why sales of the Chevy Nova were poor in California and Florida (no va).
