Effective July 6, Iberia will launch a thrice weekly non-stop flight between Madrid and Montevideo, Uruguay. Iberia will be the only airline to offer non-stop service in this market, and will shave about three hours from the current journey.

Very good news for Uruguay. Now Paraguay is the only S. American country without a nonstop flight to Spain ( I think ). I didn't know Carrasco Intl. had a runway long enough to handle an A340...

MVD can handle an A-340 no problem. AA and UA both used to fly 777s there with no problem. It could handle even a 747-400.
