I expect that this has been asked before despite me not seeing such a thread and many apologies if it has....

What was the first single you bought?

Mine was "Hole in my shoe" by Neil (the hippy from "The Young Ones"for those who may not, but should know)

Cheers

This (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=107962) old thread is relevant, but, Rolf Harris's 'Two Little Boys' comes to mind...:{

Maxman,

Which, you or the record? :p

I have to admit my first was "Daydream Believer" by the Monkees! (yes, I'm ashamed, but vinyl singles were only about 5 bob then).

Still got it, along with other "classics" such as "Donna" by 10 cc, "If you really love me" by Stevie Wonder and "Schools out" by Alice Cooper.

Recently got the old turntable deck working again, so I must dig 'em all out of the loft and give my teenager sons a laugh!

"Dad, how come CDs were always black, and much bigger, in the olden days?"

"Dad! Be careful with that, it's got a laser in it you know!"
"No son, it's got a little diamond needle in it"
"A WHAT?" :ooh:

"Rock n roll alnight" - KISS (1st single)
"Goodbye yellow brick road" - Elton John (1st Album)
"Brothers in Arms" - Dire Straits (1st CD)

That should cover the next few lists I think!:ok:

'Animal Army' by 'Babylon Zoo'... Such a tragedy, i was young, it was a impulse buy. 2nd 'Peaches' by 'The Presidents of The United States of America'

Finally began to improve when i bought 'Firestarter' by 'The Prodigy', i still like that 11 years or so later.

Back in the 60's there was an annual 50 mile walk from Margate to Maidstone organised by the "Kent Messenger". It was also heavily covered by the pirate radio stations - Caroline and London, who played requests and "appropriate" music all night.

I was subsequently prompted to buy my first single - the choice was either "Boots" by Nancy Sinatra or "Homeward Bound" by Simon & Garfunkel.

Can´t remember the first single I bought myself, remember my elder sister bought me

CCR Down on the Corner

as a birthday present, and I think that was my first single ever, soon to be joined by Up Around the Bend.

Clearly remember I bought
T. Rex - Telegram Sam
Who - Join Together
as soon as they came into the shops.
