Any hints please on connecting my laptop (XP Pro) to the internet via my Motorola V525 GPRS mobile and data cable? I am on a Vodafone tariff with GPRS at £7.50 per Mb.

I can see data cables selling for £12 so that would hook-up the hardware, but what software is needed?

The Motorola website has a bundled data cable + CD for rather more money, but maybe that software is only necessary to transfer phone book data, ringtones etc between mobile and pc?

I am not interested in doing that: I just want to fire up the laptop, go to dial-up networking and access my Onetel ISP service just like a phone line.

Is it that simple? what other stuff do I need?

Is the Motorola Bluetooth compatible? If so, that's the way to go.

You should get all the software you need with the Bluetooth PCMCIA card, and it's a brilliant solution. It plugs and plays in a couple of minutes.

Have you looked at the Vodafone 3G solution. I am going to take a look, and if I like it I might even sell you my Bluetooth card for a snip!
