Hi everybody , this question is

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THE WASTE GATE OF THE TURBOCHARGED ENGINE SEIZED IN THE DESCENT ?

1.compressor will overspeed .

2.blow the turbine blades off.

3.MAP may exceed its maximum permitted value in the induction manifold .

4.RPM may exceed its maximum pemitted value .

pleas i need some explanation for this Q.

The manifold air pressure (MAP) value may exceed the maximum allowed value. So you will overburst the engine. The waste gate must be opening during the decent.

So answer 3.

English is not peb's first language, and as far as I can see (not my favourite subject) he has the correct interpretation of the situation, so no implied criticism, but he meant "overboost".

The reason this answer is correct is that the waste gate allows exhaust gas to bypass the turbocharger to keep the boost correct. If it sticks closed as the aircraft descends into air of higher pressure the effects of the turbocharger will increase the pressure by as much as it was required to at higher altitude. This may be more than the engine can cope with.

Thank you Send Clowns for the correction, I will try not to forget that.
I do my best.

Hey your English is a lot better than any of my other languages! You probably understand turbo chargers better too - this is why I won't teach engines!
