To those of you who trade in airline shares.

What do you think (and why) will happen to the share price of;

1 VB, when jetstar commences operations

2 VB, when jetstar has received all new jets on order
(full capacity)

3 QF, when jetstar commenses operations

4 QF, when they start the propose jetstar asia

5 QF, when the SEasia airlines who have orders for the A380, start operating their machines into AU.

If you have any references please give them.

U2 - the one and only time I have ever purchased Qantas shares wsa about 3 days following 9/11.

Managed to get a 60% return within 8 months or so and that was a big punt.
Overall airline shares are so fickle because they are affected by every little thing.
Terrorism aside we have instability in certain regions, oil prices, exchange rate variables not to mention little gems like the Iraq war and SARS.
Throw into that an accident and you have numerous recipes for disaster.

As Alan Greenspan said, "the share market is 20% perception and 80% emotion".

Only invest what you can afford to lose.
