ORAC is now working in Madrid and will only be home at his brand new house with it's built in network and server and all his toys for a couple of days a month. :{ :{

On the other hand, he has an apartment in Alcala outside Madrid and is planning to fill it with wireless toys. He has bought the following to install. Anyone any ideas of other wireless toys he can add? :E :E

Broadband access through a Netgear DG834G wireless ADSL modem/router, allowing 802.11b access from my laptop (built-in) and new PC.

PC - Microdirect Anubis (http://www.microdirect.co.uk/productinfo.aspx?ProductID=5691), based on a Shuttle SB65G2 with a built in 802.11b module, Ilyama 17" TFT E431S multi-media monitor, wireless keyboard & mouse, XP Pro. I've copied all the music/video files from my server to an external USB drive and will copy them across. This will act as a server for the following.

TV/Video interface - Neuston MC-500 Virtuoso (http://www.neuston.com/en/mc500.asp) fitted with a Netgear MA521 802.11b PCMCIA card. That will stream music/video to the TV and also give internet and web radio access from the TV in the lounge. I bought it for home, but will use it out here.

Hi-Fi interface - Philips MC-i250 (http://www.streamium.com/products/mc-i250/index.shtml) mini hi-fi with built in 802.11b module, allowing it to also stream the music from the server and internet radio stations.

Printer - HP PSC 2510 (http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/ho/WF06b/18972-238444-236260-12085-f7-303769-303771-303772.html) multifunction network printer/fax/copier with, would you believe :} , an 802.11b module.

I wonder if there's a camera with a wi-fi link out there?

(I'm also taking out a Sky box and getting a 1.2m dish put up, I won't get the BBC or the other terrestrial stations - they're only on the northern beam and that would need a 1.8m dish and add another £700 to the price -, but I'll get the rest, which should do nicely ).

God save resettlement allowances...... :p

ps. Boss Raptor, if you're interested I'll be in Fray Juan Gill 4 behind the railway station.

Onan,

The router is 802.11g, but the only variant of the PC and other devices available were 802.11b.

I got a 802.11b PCMCIA card for the MC-500 because they are they only ones listed on the compatability list, but I´m getting a 802.11g card as well and will see if it works. Since the module in the Shuttle is USB I might be able to upgrade that as well.... :}
