Yesterday England lost one its finest young cricketers in a tragic car accident in Perth, Western Australia.. .. .He would surely have gone on to return to the Test side again and some compared him to Ian Botham.. .. .A great tragedy that we have lost such a talent at such a young age. It looks like he was driving too fast in his Porsche and lost control on a bend.

Agreed - a great tragedy for English Cricket - we have few enough quality young players as it is.. .. .

Jet Dragon. You say "we", but you give your location as NSW. . .. .Have we a traitor in our midst?

Hi Captain. .. .The JD is a pom (of the Welsh variety) thru & thru my friend. The biggest drawback to being an English cricket supporter here is listening to the incessant bloody crowing of a certain antipodean 11.. .. .Cheers. .. .JD. .. .

yes, MS ever tasteful you nonce.. .. .If some knob head car fanatic said summat similar about an aircraft going down "it must be crew" the right response is "wait for AAIB/NTSB/whoever" - same here. Perth police are on the case, in the meantime shut up you pr!ck.. .. .Though Irish I am a cricket fan and it's sad to see any sportsman taken in his prime.

Sad to see anyone taken in their prime, Mr. D, but the untimely death of a sportsman (if that term can be applied to your ludicrous English game) is no more tragic than any other death, just more stupid.

Moritz:. .. .You Ars*hole!!!!!. .. .Perth Police are investigating the crash, but their preliminary report says that they believe speed or alcohol were not factors in the accident.. .. .**** off back to whatever rock your crawled out from under!!! . .. .Danny - ban this goat!!!

I really implore people not to respond to Moritz, he is just a sad little man who is clearly so insecure he has to spend his time trying to get a rise out of others. And he has succeeded again on this thread.. .. .Although, it grieves me to say so and however insensitive, he may have a point in this case. Hollioake must have been driving too fast, you can see that from the damage to the vehicle. The road surface was absolutely treacherous, there was a lot of oil and it had just rained for the first time in weeks - which meant that there was almost no grip as the wet dust created a slippery film on the tarmac. I think that this was the cause of the accident, Ben probably accelerated out of the bend, lost grip and apparently hit a pylon rather than went straight into the wall.. .. .This was a tragic accident, and would have been tragic if it had happened to any 24 year old whether an international cricketer or not.. .. .And I can't resist responding to Moritz on one point........cricket may be ludicrous to you but it is far less ludicrous than the fact that Motor Racing is still illegal in Switzerland!!!! (I assume you are Swiss, Moritz).. . . . [ 27 March 2002, 10:43: Message edited by: Wedge ]

Ludicrous you say, Mr. Wedge!. .. .We have a lovely peaceful life here in the Alps, not rudely shattered by noisy, smelly little wind-up toys, so favoured by men with small stature and/or penises.. .. .24 is FAR too young to be in command of a car such as that which drove Master Hollioak to his tragic and untimely death, and yes, a fool and his money very soon has more car that he can handle.. .. .MS.

Agreed, Wedge! . .. .A touch of jealousy, methinks! Perhaps MS thinks it is HE who should be driving the Porsche? Perhaps he feels the need far more than Hollioake should have done for the penis substitute? ROFL!
