As SLF, this USAF pilot wants to the crew of QF 26 that departed LAX Apr 15. Nice flight to BNE, but too long.
AKL was fogged in and we diverted to Nadi about two hours out. Quick turn back to AKL which was still fogged in. Nice tactical move to hold south towards Christchurch, so we could hang in 'til the last moment. Worked out perfect, just at decision time Captain says one arrival made it and 50/50 or less we would. At landing, it was bright sun and fog burning off. 24 total hours out of LAX, arrived BNE.
Cabin crew was very nice and flight enjoyable. Hats Off!!
