Received a piece of junk mail today asking me to apply for yet another credit card.
This one was from the RAF benevolent fund and the sales spiel starts with.

"Never...... has so much been owed by so many to so few."

Do they really have no sense of irony? Or is it their idea of a joke?

I've never been totally comfortable about the idea of using charities to persuade people to take out a credit card. There is something unethical about getting people into debt on the belief that they are supporting their favourite charity.

Does anyone have any idea of how much of the amount you spend actually goes to the charity concerned?

Invariably 0.25%. That is 25pence per 100.

Always have one credit card spare and hidden. That way, if someone puts the squeeze on (like the soon to be ex-wife) you can still play on . . . . .
