Does anyone have any information about these people?
I presume that at some stage I filled out a data form for them, and have had a few 'jobs of interest' shovelled my way. But now that a job is of interest to me, I find that I have to pay £50 or so to join properly to get the facts to make my application....

With the likes of Ryan air et al willing to charge you for demonstrating ambition, and scum like JAC Academy behaving like hyenas, I wonder if this is on the level. Not that I am implying that they are in the same camp. It's just better safe than sorry.

Isn't it funny that there are still cut and paste sites that you have to pay for while if you use www.monsterboard.com , www.flightinternational.com and www.aviationjobsearch.com you will find 98% of the same adverts for free!!! :E

I was beginning to think I'd asked my question in swahili.

I presume that the othere replies are from people who either lack a basic knowledge of English, or have their own agenda to push, or fall into the RTFQ category.

At suppose I have at least I saved myself £50.

I think everyone's grasp of English is fine, however some don't seem able to grap the concept of implication.... (ie is is implied that SSD has a pay to join website to advertise and the easiest way to do it is to start a thread about it).

The other option is that he wants to find a job and is asking eveyone if they know anything about this site and is it more than the cut and paste job that tt2 mentioned...

No, I don't think you've missed any points there.

For SSD.... I've posted a couple vacancies for my company with both Flightdeckrecruitment and Flitejobs (as well as others), and for your information only, both websites have sent through good quality candidates, leading to guys being placed in the positions, from both companies, who are doing very well for us. I do not workwith or for either of the above by the way!

I believe that they may make money by doing what SSD has stated in which case they have both succeeded in achieving the aim....getting people work. Surely they must be allowed to charge for that, as they have business expenses to cover. The choice is yours whether you try it or not..... they are not the same as Ryanair who are really pushing the bounds of reality with their charge scheme etc.

think you started something of an inadvertant war of words!

why not email the company and ask what imformation exactly you will be entitled to after you fork out the cash.

from my own personal experience though, i have never had to pay to get details of a job, but i have heard of recruiters charging for interviews etc such as CTC-McAlpine (Easy Jet) etc...

A little bit of controversial comment from me, but it got a few more, informative, posts.
My apologies to those legitimate persons/groups that I may have offended.

I am in the second category. I am (speculatively) looking for a job. grass is greener etc. However, I am cautious about paying without knowing a little more. These days, it is too easy to charge people and return a poor service. Or provide no service at all! ( I do not imply that flightdeck recruitment do so)

At the end of the day, if any of us found a good job and the cost was £50, but the rewards excellent, then that would be £50 well spent.
On the other hand, if we paid £50 and got nothing I would hope that this would be considered a bad thing.

Not to mention the 20 pints of guinness that could have been bought instead.

1. I may be a bit of an optimist on pricing.
2. I may have rounded up/down on the approx cost of guinness.
3. I always hope to cadge a few extras.
4. After the first few pints, who counts the cost. I probably end up buying drinks for people I don't even know.
5. Lived up north once, didn't like it much. But good guinness in UMIST campus pub. Can't remember the name of it though.....
