Just been told that we have had our terms and conditions changed (to our detriment) and this has been agreed by BALPA.

They want 1% of my salary and they can't even keep the same terms and conditions that I joined on!

A bit vague don't you think?

If you want people to react, why not post some details.

Alterego

If anything has been agreed, your elected Company Council representatives would have had to agree it on your behalf. I would be very surprised if they would have accepted any detrimental changes to your T & C's without balloting the membership.

Have you contacted a CC member to find out what's going on? That would seem to be the first thing to do before sticking some vague posting on PPRuNE, don't you think?

They might be able to change terms and conditions but they can't change the contract. There is no way on this earth they will reduce salaries by 1%. No pay rise maybe.

Hudson Bay, the reference to 1% is the cost of being a Balpa member, not that the bmibaby salary package has been reduced by 1%.

Without details the discussion is pointless!

There is one way round this one if enough you are dissatisfied.

Why don't you form your own union? It's not very difficult!

If you get a high enough membership the company has to recognise you.

Good luck

This "Crew Council is a good idea Balpa is a bad idea" thing has been rattling around for ages .. but who is going to be brave or foolhardy enough to get a vote on the subject ?
It won't be the crew council ! :suspect:

Could you possibly be a bit more vague?

If you have an axe to grind then grind it, if not step away from the pot!

Guys,

Those of you that were given a set of playground rules when you joined should read them.

One of our guys in CWL, is trying to get the number of DL days that are sated in the rules. Ops Scheduling are telling him that what is in his playground rules is not what the BALPA cc have agreed. Therefore he is not entitled.

My copy of the playground rules is clear that you get a DL day per week. Apparently this has been changed to one per block of time off by the company and BALPA cc have signed this.

Regardless of what crewing are saying, the leave allocation page on the web when becomes available to use, has each available week on a separate line. As you choose each week, there is a choice to select DL either before, or after that week.
End of story, they can't change that or indeed argue with it.

How about the LOYALTY BONUS SCHEME???

It says in the agreement that all baby employees are entitled to this bonus @ 5% of gross profit of bmibaby, shared pro rata etc....
It goes on to say: If profits are low everyone shares up to the MINIMUM amount of £250 each.

This bonus was not given out, nor was there any communication from management. Nice one.

What it doesn't say is that is profits are negative then you will be asked to cough up, to make good the difference.

You can't share a profit you haven't made, unless you are Gordon Brown.
