I have a question about conducting a GPS Arrival using a receiver with an out of date database.

Jepp Term 1.5.2(a) states that 'the database medium (card, chip, etc.) must be current and of a kind endorsed by the receiver manufacturer.

I have been told, anecdotally, that it is permissable to conduct a GPS Arrival using a receiver with an out of date database so long as the co-ordinates of the reference can be verified.

I can't find anything regulatory to confirm this.

Can anyone confirm/deny this, and provide me with pointers toward regulatory proof?

Thanks

AFAIK, if it's not current, you can't do it. Except for VFR/VMC ops, in which case you're responsible for your own terrain separation & navigation, not the procedure design. In the VMC case you're really not doing the approach, although may be following it, if you see what I mean?

If the card is out of date you can't do it. Full stop.

This may the case in Oz but in NZ I believe that if the data card was issued after the last plate update then you are able to conduct the GPS arrival and or approach.
