I wonder if the engineers can graft a A320 cockpit on to the nose of the Chieftain , we might be able to carry an extra 88kg of freight on each of the front seats..........

anyone know of or got pics of simular strangeness from a previous era ?

During the induction training at Westlands we got a little 'history of the company' talk. The bloke doing the talk ahd slides of past aircraft.

One of the was a Lysander with a Lancaster type tail and turret grafted onto the back, but I don't have a copy of the picture. Apparently designed for strafing trenches, because it was stable and could fly fairly slow. Then some one worked out that a slow flying aircraft over a trench line might take a few hits from the bods in the trench, after all, if it's going slow, who needs to know about deflection shooting?

The Seaking westlands used to prove some of the Merlin avionics looked pretty weird. The radar was chin mounted, it looked like one of those tribes that puts big plates in the lower lip.
