Or to put it another way, What’s the point in tightening security at Airports when it’s people that cause the problem. Knives don’t throw themselves at people the same as guns can’t aim. Immigration is the key.

Stop the trouble before it gets to the transport.

Who are you? No, only proof will do.
Why do you need to be here? No, only proof will do.
Have you been given positive recommendation from your country of departure who is friendly to ours? No? Bye then.

Or maybe we all reap the benifits of money first

Could you fit a Panzer division through the Chunnel? Just as well Britain and France didnt see eye to eye enough to build that thing before 1939.

Britain can stop an army and airforce from reaching its shores, but it cant stop determined pockets of refugees. It would probably help if the ocean around her was still useful in stopping the influx. But no, Britain had to build a tunnel to link itself with the continent.

European community = European problems shared all round. Including refugees.

Kermie

Come on now. You think the Chunnel isn't ringed with explosives?

There's no way they would build that thing without having the ability to close it permenantly at a moment's notice.

Actualy I have it solid authority that the powers that be are in fact extremely concerned about that very system. It's triple redundant fail safe features have been compromised by seawater and they are concerned the a) they won't be able to close it when they want to b) it will close itself prematurely c) some immigrant passing through will nick the box that sets the charges off because it was placed in and easily accesibl/servicing position, none of which are conducive to state of ease in the minds of the chunnling public :)
