What type of reading glasses do you recomend for flying biofocal progresive or just plain reading

It depends entirely on your refractive error. Bifocals are perfectly acceptable. Most authorities don't recommend progressive lenses, but many pilots fly with them quite successfully.

I have been wearing variofocals for many years. The main advantage I find is that they allow me to focus at any distance making it much easier to read the F/O's pressure setting during cross checks for instance. They do however take a few days to get used to looking through the appropriate part of the lens.
