In Atyrau - just had a travel agent in my office telling me that Air Astana are going to buy a couple of Fokker 50's and start a 6 x Weekly service between Aktau-Atyrau and Uralsk on 29th March 2004
Anybody else heard of this ?

Sadly, whilst the routes and the aircraft are confirmed, it will not be up and running by the end of this month. Air Astana do not expect to take delivery of the Fokkers until the end of April.
Could be a long walk in the meantime, unless the Government has any temporary arrangements with local carriers as with other routes.

Does not surprise me, suppose I'll have to stick to SCAT or chartering the Berkut LET-410 to fly to Uralsk.
Anyway, I'm a gonner have to be in Sunny Blackburn on Tuesday.:uhoh:

Thanks for the info, I guess we shall have to wait and see. I saw yesterday that one of the F50s was delivered on 22 March.
