"Complete suitcase sizemeans?

A friend flying Uk to Usa has been instructed suitcase limit is 32kg weight and 62" complete.
Question is what does 62" complete mean?
A.. Lenght +breadth +depth?
B...Lenghth + breadth?
C...Something else?
Any help gratfeully received... as interestingly the lady selling the ticket does not seem know either!

You may want to check that weight. 32kg is the max that can be packed into one bag (HSE limits etc). You may want to find out what he can take for free and what the excess baggage charges are.

(eg, QF economy International bag limit is 20kg. They'll accept up to 25kg for free. 32kg is the absolute limit for the bag) I usually try to keep the individual bag limits to a max of 20kg each. Kinder to the baggage handlers.

FYI the IATA scheduled carrier Transatlantic (USA, Canada, Caribbean and some South American countries) allowance is 2 "pieces" of up to 32kg max total dimensions (length and girth combined - NOTE NOT LENGTH BREADTH AND DEPTH!) of 62 inches. If one single piece exceeds this weight or dimensions or weight, at best you could be charged 3 charges as a penalty (most airlines charge somewhere around £80 per charge for USA) - at worst, the airline can refuse to take it!

Beware of cheap "bucket shop" tickets and charter operators. The allowances (which will be shown somewhere on the ticket) can be only 20 kg. (A claw-back for selling the lower fares!)
