latest news is that one of the MFA twin engine aircraft had a prop strike during landing. is this true?? if it is, that makes 2 incidents involving twin engine aircraft in MFA. the previous incident was involving nose gear failure, grounding the aircraft completely. who is to blame?? they should really keep to their motto, "HIGHER STANDARDS ALWAYS"....:ok: so they say.....

Hey IFR, have you got anything against MFA? If you've an axe to grind, why don't you do it somewhere else.

hehe.... i see some touchy n highly emotional people around. helo jonybungah, welcome to PPRUNE. Assuming that this is your first post, you either have been using another nickname before or just eager to post something since you've been joining but not been posting for a long long while. anyways, with all due respect to the beloved MFA, I dont see any reason why anyone should be emotional about it? Im not trying to 'grind my axe' here (so you say), but incidents being incidents, there are some parties who are interested in this. If you want to HUSHKIT everything and anything, by all means go ahead, but it will come out eventually..... just like AAsia.... :)

Actually, the ONLY reason why someone should be emotional bout this is if THEY themselve seem to LOVE MFA's 3rd world policy..... you should know what I mean.

-p.s.- BY THE WAY.... I could grind my axe somewhere else, but it'll just bring me back.... TO THE FAR EAST.... :)

I FLY RIVER.... NOT Hushkitted, bcoz I'm no 727....

Yup, indeed a prop strike did happen to the port side engine of 9M-SKR, and the engine has been removed and sent for repairs/overhaul. Inquiry was conducted, and it was due to a sudden / strong gust of wind just as the aircraft was touching down. Well, these things do happen and we must be thankful that that was all that happened and no injuries were sustained!
As for the aircraft, she just came out of the paintshop, with a new color scheme......she should be flying again in the near future.

2 twin engines had a prop strike. They were 9m-SKR at first then 9M-SKK which was a new plane. Both striked on the starboard engine, not the port. At the moment, SKR is in operation but I am not so sure with SKK.

Anyway, I am quite curious who is that dude that actually got emotional over the MFA issues in the previous replies? To whom it may concern, MFA sucks! Everyone knows it, even the staffs...So bare with it and stay cool man! :)

IFR... YOU'RE THE MAN!

Strong winds at touchdown don't cause prop-strikes. Incompetent instructors or students cause prop-strikes.
If the winds were that bad the aircraft should not have been flying.

For those interested: Yes 2 aircraft had a prop strike. Yes both on the same side. Yes by the same pilot. Now promoted to Standards Officer

Higher Standards . . . . Sometimes!

MAS monkey, be carefull with what you said, your post on Latc, did you think? australian trained pilot have better standard than other's? we just can hope that Latc and MFA can rise their standard, just hope man:ouch:

Ok, aussie trained, used as an example. This is malaysia we are talking about. The easy option of least resistance is always the norm.

Yes MFA standards are incredible low. Yes I am hoping LATC can rise above, but its a very steep climb. There has to be a major commitment from all senior staff. And not to be in it just for the money or the image.

Will have to wait and see.

Actually MAS Monkey the person has not been promoted to Standards Officer. Pay to get your facts right before spreading unsubstantiated rumours

You are correct RMT. As far as DCA is concerned. All senior staff have to be a Malaysian. Company promotions are different.

However at MFA there is a person in charge of Standards on Twin Engine and a person in charge of Single Engine Standards. And they are both non-Malaysians. If they are not Standards, who is.

VSM is Principal, maybe he Chief Instructor as well. He could also be wearing the SO hat as well. :D

Cumulating nearly all functions, the same person has also proposed to be the consultant for LATC,...see answer in "Living in Malacca".
