I am writing up a history of Turnhouse (military and civilian) and the two problem areas I have run into are a lack of info on Civilian operations in the 1950s and early 60s and info on military ops from 1915 up to the start of the second world war. Can anyone point me in the right direction plus any information or anecdotes etc most welcome.
Thank You

Have a look at this website, perhaps the author might be able to help you?

To my knowledge the archives at East Fortune contain a good history of the Ferranti flying unit, and a lot of great between the wars Turnhouse material in their files on 603 Squadron. Also, they have a large collection of logbooks from the Turnhouse tower, detailing all civil aircraft movements. I can't remember exactly how far back they go, but 1960s comes to mind.

wub & fernytickles - many thanks for your suggestions.
As a matter of interest I was told by a librarian at George IV Library that Turnhouse was not the first choice for a civil airport for Edinburgh back in the 1930s so I hope to research their archives when I go up there next month.
Thanks again
