Hello I searched and found a thread about how the eye sight requirements are quite relaxed now?

Is that actually true? As on the Transport Canada website it says that a class 1 requires no more then +-3 diopters in each eye. Which puts me out of the race. I got +5 and +4.5 near sight in one eye and +3.75 stigmatism in each.

It *is* true - I am the holder of a Canadian class 1 medical with -5.25, -5.75 eyesight, and that's not as a result of any special appeal or anything, just a normal medical.

As long as you can be corrected to 20/20 you're good to go.

This policy decision has been made, but they haven't updated the standards documents yet (this is Canada, after all). Nevertheless they will not fail you on eyesight as long as you can be corrected to 20/20.

Obvious reason; you'll get an FAA license instead if they fail you...
