Help me with a definition of GA!

I am looking to find a definition av general aviation?

What is GA?

What does it stand for and more importantly - what is one refering to in terms of flight operations, existing infrastructure, and authorative bodies governing GA?

Any ideas?

The ICAO definition of GA is as follows:

"An aircraft operation other than a commercial air transport operation or aerial work".

General Aviation is anything under 19 seats or 8 tonnes MTOW
