I was up there today. I take it 05 is facing the A45, as the TUI's were taking off from the Bagington end towards the A45
Gosh! they are very quiet!
Standing outside my car by the Bagington runway end, initial deep rumbling, then silence.

Titan are taking their B733 away from Cov early Sunday am, leaving no a/c for the morning Naples. So the Jersey inbound will do the Naples 2 1/2 hours late.

No sign of a 4th a/c coming in for the rest of the day yet!

I will be up there over the weekend, so i'll see if I can get some shots of these things. Hop-efully I might be able to get up close and personal, well from the taxi way anyway ;) Lots of Titans though it seems. Do they have a close relationship with Tfly then?

Airline launches a fresh attack Jun 10 2004

Warwick District Council has been accused of misleading people over the number of complaints received over the expansion of Coventry Airport.

Owner Thomsonfly says the number of complaints was less than the district council had suggested because it did not take into account people complaining more than once.

Communications director Kimberley Kay said "vast numbers" of complaints had been from prepared letters - and claimed some people complained up to 10 times each.

She said: "When compared with the number of Thomsonfly bookings from Coventry post-codes, the number was the equivalent of less than four per cent of the bookings."

The airport's claims come less than a month after the district council failed to win its High Court fight for an injunction against a temporary passenger terminal at the site.

And the airport claims it has receivedplenty oflettersofsup-port since the court case - and said 1,030 people had regis-tered support on a website backing the expansion.

But district council spokesman Richard Brooker maintained that the authority had received an "unprecedented" number of complaints against the airport. He said: "The council received about 2,500 objections to the airport application but just a handful in favour of it - we have never had so many complaints against an application."

Referring to the airport's figures regarding the support on its website, he said just 20 letters of support had been received at the district council.

Mr Brooker added: "The airport's figures very much tone down the overall number of complaints when the reality is very different."

Archy Muir, of the Campaign Against the Expansion of Coventry Airport said the airport'sfigureswere"meaningless".

He said: "This meaningless collection of unsubstantiated assertions and suggestions is not worthy of a response."

Mr Muir's comments came a day after he led complaints from airport protestersover a toy plane inThomsonfly livery.

He said it "mocked" airport protesters, butThomsonflysaid it was a standard toy, similar to others sold by other airlines.

Flyme's B733 SE-RCP will be ferried back to Malmo Sat am after an 'incident' on Wed and going tech Fri pm, to be replaced by B733 SE-RCO lunchtime Sat.

Titan's 146-200 G-ZAPK will fill in the gap Sat am.

Still no sign of the fourth 737 then? What happened to FlyMe 737 in the incident?

jon01
15th Jun 2004, 11:15
Flyme B737-300 suffered a heavy landing at Cov so KLM made an inspection in the hangar, was put back into service the following day. The a/c then went tech after one return flight and was ferried back to Malmo.

I understand that the 4th B737 suffered problems with the undercarriage which has necessitated some fairly major engineering work. No indication of near term availability.

G-THOB inbound from Palma, has just (Sat 17:50 BST ) diverted to Birmingham with a suspected burst tyre. There was a crosswind at Coventry

Earlier one pilot complained about the ILS at Coventry had directed him towards the hangars....

Earlier today at Birmingham a Britannia B767-300 departing to Paphos suffered a birdstrike on departure, declared an emergency, closed one engine down and returned to land (safely) at Birmingham.

Earlier one pilot complained about the ILS at Coventry had directed him towards the hangars....

It's been a week or two since I was last in and out of CVT, but the ILS for 23 was u/s and 05 had an ATIS warning for unreliable indications on short final. Can't remember the exact wording, but the localizer disppeared off to the the right of the HSI. So, it is promulgated.

Can anyone explain why these airplanes are diving out of CAS so far from CVT? Is it that BHX are declining to offer a service?

OK I know there's nothing ilegal about it, but the proximity to the very busy gliding site at Husbands Bosworth is causing some concern.

How many Thomson guys even know it's there, and how good a radar service are they recieving?

B737-300 G-THOE is delivered to Coventry today (Jan25th) and is ex Buzz a/c G-BZZH.

There will now be 6 B737's based at Coventry until the new bases open.

The next 3 B737-300's are coming from easyJet, no source for the
forthcoming B737-800 yet.

I think the 738 will surely come from within TUI - Nordic, HLF etc.

I hope the easyJet ones aren't going to be as unreliable as they were when they were with easy or they'll need more back-up aircraft
