I hope that the moderator is not going to mind? Who me? ;) It's for a good cause, I've got no problems with the concept, Best wishes. 4HP But then again, he does have the right to remove this thread; so here goes...

Somebody else started a similar thread here, which unfortunately is not getting a huge response. Due to it's heading I guess. May we start one where we as pilots and aviation employees can leave a contact email address for potential employers to find us? I'm in the fortunate position where I get to hire new guys/gals sometimes, and it is (believe it or not) hard to find them! I would leave my web site address here, but that would be exploiting the FREE advertising thingy.

If anyone is looking for a job, flying or in the industry; let us all know here and you never know your good luck! Hopefully some influential Africans look in here from time to time?

;)

Sorry! I forgot to mention: all of those in favour of finding a job, leave a contact email address or other here?

Okay. Maybe 4H is going to allow this; maybe not? Reference to employment website removed.

With tears in my eyes 26.9, I'm sorry but we can't allow free advertising, even for free sites. If someone needs a job, then I'm sure he or she knows all the websites that they need to trawl. BTW it's not the first time advertising for this website has been removed.

Please feel free to keep posting expressions of interest, preferably in the suggested format. Entries who indicate no obvious commercial qualification will be removed.

Fair comment; and I understand fully where you're coming from, with a money-making concern such as pprune that don't entertain free advertising. However, the site that you've removed does entertain free advertising! In fact, as we speak there are 112 FREE job advertisements online, more than 2400 FREE CV advertisements and 17 FREE aviation company adverts placed there! Now that's the spirit of GIVING BACK to aviation. ;)

For those that continue to place contact details here, I will endeavour to assist where I can! :)

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has had any responses from employers as a result of posting here.

I myself have had one reply from a pprune member through private message but no e-mails at all.

I will add some updated info for any employers out there.

I am in Tanzania at the moment and will be around for a long time. I have about 1060 hours total. Just about all bushtime in Australia on C210. I now also have my Tanzanian CPL.

Any offers? E-mail [email protected]

JOB GOING ON IN ARUSHA - TANZANIA

26th Jul 2003, 00:38
Mate of mine went for this two days ago. Looks like they said no go, he has <1000 hrs.

Good company though. High standards, which is fine. But with such high requirements you could wait a long time for a pilot. Sometimes you just have to give a guy a go. What can happen if you hold out too long, when you get really desperate you can end up grabbing the first dude that walks in the door. And he may end up being a dud.

Eg. They have been looking for a 404/406 guy for ages, so I am told. Since New year in fact. Another mate of mine had a crack. With over 2000 hrs and Metro time and even 402. He didnt even get a second look!

Dont get me wrong though. Top company, shmick aircraft. Given the chance I would take it for sure.

Cheers

ShenziRubani

Helldog,
You're right in many points, there are not a lot of guys at 1000 TT and above who are going to take a C206 seat for a low salary. And I think I was in the office when your mate called and I heard the boss telling him he wanted 1000 mini. Although in the last 2 years, he employed 2 pilots with 250 and 350 TT. I do think that the position has been given to someone already, and that was the excuse.
I agree that the company had been looking for a 4040 and 406 pilot for quite a while. But the boss is very tough, and has his own principles and ideas on what he wants from a pilot. We even saw a guy with 1700 hours on 406 not making the cut (and getting stressed, leaving after 10 days). So, you're right, but you know him, he has a mind of his own, and that's the way he's been running the house and he makes good money.

I am the leaving 206 pilot, so will be in the bad books there for a while. Had a great time flying though, great experience and the guy is so knowledgeable, but I have mostly learn a lot from some of the other pilots, especially the Van drivers.

Guys,

If you are or know good solid C206 rated, and experienced drivers loose down your way, pls ask them to get in touch with us soonest.

We are looking to position 2 pilots in our camps in Tanzania:

1 – Katavi / Mahale

1 – Sand Rivers Selous.

( possibility of being in Serengeti area in season as well)

They would be more or less permanently out in the bush – so we really need self-reliant types who could double up as Guides/mechanics/masseurs.

(and yes, girls welcome to apply)

The advantage for them would be zero living costs – and the run of the best wilderness areas left in Tanzania.

Hours:

1000 Min TT

(100 on C206 for insurance reasons)

Just so you know, we just bought a Caravan – which will come on line in Dec 2003. So the jockeys might get a go on the C208 as well if they behave….

PLEASE please can you put the word out amongst the flying fraternity down your way. We need to get moving on at least 1 of these Pilots urgently - and the other by December time.
_________________________

I have been flying for them for a month on a C206, just free-lancing as I am leaving East Africa in a few weeks. I have know them quite well for about 8 years. Good people to fly for, good hours, salary is very decent and the extras for overnights and extra hours is higher than most around here in Tanzania. I choose the Sand Rivers/Selous job and it was really great. Spent an average of 10 nights in Dar or Zanzibar in the month.
The job is better suited for someone who's single, as most of the time will be spent in the bush, it is not easy to have a wife, or husband, in Arusha or Dar.

don't hesitate to pm me for info, and send your resumes and CVs to [email protected]

Good luck

Sighted on a ramp at DNMM (Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria): Two Beech 1900D regional airliners, with two more to come, supposedly. The aircraft have reportedly come directly from Raytheon in Wichita, Kansas.

The stated aim of Overland is to set up a regional airline serving some of the lesser airports within Nigeria. The airline is an offshoot of Mr Boyo's Landover, a fairly well-known Lagos-based handling company.

Since they arrived the aircraft have just been sitting there parked with no sign of any activity or any crews. Perhaps this is an opportunity for some of you guys with 1900 time who are looking for work. I heard the crews may be sourced from South Africa. I have no idea about pay and conditions offered.

Good luck!

Gentlemen,

A tip.
I often page this thread. For me and other potential employers:-

Keep it brief.
We need to see at a glance your Total Time
Aircraft types
Hours on the main Types
Your present Location.
African Experience

Also for you non flying aviation types out there. Try posting here as well. There are spots for ops, planning & management and it can lead to flying jobs!

Good Luck
