class 1 renewal or use as class 2

My class 1 is due for renewal.

I am 31 and flying on PPL.

Am I correct in thinking that I can continue to fly under Class 2 and need not renew my Class 1 until next March, another year?

I am currently due an ECG - does this make any difference?

You will have to have a look at your medical.

The new ones have "Class 1 medical is acceptable for class 2 privileges and validities". Just below the VII signature

And previously to that the doctors had little stickers which said the same thing.

If your flying in the UK only using PPL rights I wouldn't worry to much about it. If you want to say go to France i would make sure that you have a medical cert with those words on it otherwise you could be in for some horrible problems.

You only need them after age 40.
