Heya

I'm planning on starting my commercial training soon, in aussieland. But my question also relates to flying x-country as a ppl pilot. Does anyone have any hints/ideas or tips on how they make life easier in the cockpit/during preflight/flight planning. Any formula's that you consider handy(eg working out rate of decent beneath Control steps) whenn flying an aeroplane on x-country flights/ or particular things that make things easier for you and that work. How do you organise yourself in the cockpit? I know its very personal/ or can be..but just be interesting to see what peoples responses are.

OK let's see.
Start of with " plan the flight and fly the plan"
Couple of little tricks for XC flying.
Try to avoid flying the last leg late afternoon west bound.
Sun in your eyes for 2 hrs is bloody tiring.
From the tip of your thumb to the first knuckle(bend it first) is for most people 10NM on a 1:500.000 chart.
Max winddrift is half the wind strength.
There are literally 100's more at www.flightinfo.com top left hand corner under " rules of thumb".
:ok: :ok: :ok:
