Good day to all the flying lot in India..

Got a few queries to my fellow indians out there.....

The conversion process involved ,since I have a SouthAfrican license Mutli and IF and also the hour requirment to get a comm license? Its an ICAO license.

Do any of you guys know of an Indian company which bought quite a few of Brasilias (Embraer) from Brasil?? I got this info from a Brasilian 737 chap holidaying here in SA.

Heard that Air India is hiring 40 pilots. What would they look for ? is it easy for the convex process and apply for the post?

Hope i get an answer to all these queries, lads

cheers

Although i am not in India, I think I can answer some of the questions.

Not sure about the conversion, but you would need to do the Indian exams including radio telephony(you can do this in England).

Air India is hiring and the applications have to be in by March 8. The requirement is just a basic CPL/IR/ME. The info and application format can be found at www.airindia.com. look under careers.

Indian airlines is also hiring. they have their info under www.indian-airlines.com. click on news and there should be a link to the requirements. you will probably need to know the right people to get a job there.

good luck

Hello there,

Jet Airways is the company that purchased Embraer Jets. I believe they initially were interested in Canada RJ's but they got a better deal on Brasilia's.

You have to convert you South African license into an Indian one- takes minimum of 6 months.

India is a good place to try specially if you have 1500hrs TT .

All the best.

sky747,

What other types of jobs are available in India besides the national carriers. I have over 1500TT and wouldn't mind moving there to fly.

thanks

DGCA will become a whole new word in your life as yu make your repeated eforts to get an Indian CPL.

I have had questions asked how were Vegas girls, as the DGCA officer saw xcountry in my log book.

Sorry to hijack the thread a little here, but i too have been considering the Indian option from the UK.

Im due to graduate from an Integrated course with a JAA frozen ATPL this summer and i assume i would also have to convert to an Indian licence - does anyone have any idea of whats invovled (both exam wise and financially)?

Also am i right in assuming that with the recent new legislation, i'll be able to apply for dual citizenship in India as an NRI, even though i was born in the UK? The AI website doesnt specify nationality but im guessing its a pre-requisite to be an Indian citizen.

What are the chances of someone who wasnt born in India getting a job over there? (I.e. is there a plentiful supply of local applicants or do a lot of pilots with Indian based airlines come from abroad?).

Thanks,
Rai.

please get an Indian CPL/ALTP and apply to the various airlines
the market is pretty fluid there are a lot of pilots who have made it in the end it is how you sell yourself.Be confident and go for it.
