I am currently instructing in the US, and would like to get to do the CPL check while I'm still here. Problem is, can I do the check ride before I have the CAA class 1. Please, no lectures on how I should have done the medical before taking the ATP writtens!!
Also, I have a FAA class 1, I've heard the CAA class 1 is quicker/cheaper/easier if you have one- is this true?

cheers

JP,

I believe indeed that you get some discount for holding an FAA class one as some part of the medical does not have to be done. However don't know how much it is and which part. (ISTR EEG and about £80 but no guarantees on either bit) So don't convert that into beer money just yet!

Don't know if you can do the CPL check with just a class 2 medical.

Only thing I can find is that (Article 22 of the ANO) they will not grant a licence without you having the appropriate medical.

Don't see any reference to the flight test.

Take it the examiner will know.
