hi
im about to sign up for flight school and i see a requirement is i need a class 1 medical.
now, i was just wondering, keeping in mind, i am a EXTREAMLY SHY PERSON, the only person that goes around that area is me,.
how "physical" is this?
do they inspect ALL the male anatomy'
please help

Are you referring to the digital rectal exam, that is not normally done until after age 40.
They do check your lower frontal area for hernias, lumps ect.
The class I is very similar to the class III.

i dont quite understand the concept of a full physical to be a pilot.
so, if you have a lump or something, can you not be a pilot?

If you are an 'EXTREAMLY SHY PERSON', how will you get along in the flight deck when under pressure if you can't accept a doctor checking your balls?

yea
perhaps i should have rephrased that
but i am a shy person in that part.
i have absolutly no problem talking to strangers at all, im perfect there.
but if the doctor said, go behind that curtain and check yourself for me, i wouldnt mind doing that, or even telling him about it, but i still dont feel comfortable with a doctor doing that :p

The most the doctor'll do is cup your nether regions and get you to cough a bit. That'll be it. Done. And if all else goes well, you'll be a Class I better off by the end of the day :ok:
A pair of balls is a pair of balls and I guarantee the doctor will have seen a thousand pairs in his career...there's a pretty good chance the doctor'll have a pair as well. Don't sweat it.
I have the pleasure of said activity in a few weeks as well.

If the thought of someone looking over your shoulder,or someone second quessing your every action, or a Doc harassing you every 6 months (in my case), then you've chosen the wrong profession.
After I while you learn to just accept it.

Don't quote me, but the hernia side of things can also be checked at the very lower section of the abdominals - and again they ask you to cough
